Loyalty in a "BONHOEFFER"!

Ewe don't have to be afraid to look at the topic of CHARACTER!

Character is defined by Webster as; "a distinctive trait, quality, or attribute; characteristic". I'm going to begin this year exploring some individuals & animals that display character.I hope that Ewe  come to appreciate the "Character" on display in some of God's awesome Creation! We'll start with the character trait of Loyalty,  as seen in both the world of man & nature.


Moms show outstanding "Loyalty" toward their offspring!

Ewe need to "stick  close" to Mama, like peanut butter & jelly!

Loyalty is defined by Webster as: "the quality or state of being loyal: a loyal feeling : a feeling of strong support for someone or something." In the world of nature, we observe the character trait of loyalty in the Albatross family. Albatrosses are a family of 21 species of large, long-living seabirds flying over most oceans in the world. The royal (‘great’) Albatrosses have the largest wingspans of any bird in the world, reaching 11 to 12 feet. An Albatrosses' life span is longer than most birds, with the oldest one on record living 61 years! Courtship takes much longer than most birds, due to the complicated dances that the males perform, in order to impress the females! However, after mating, they remain loyal to each other for life, or up to 50 yrs.!

An individual that displayed such Loyalty to Christ, which led to his hanging, was the German pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He worked closely with an assortment of poor, downtrodden people in Harlem, Barcelona, & Berlin, which helped him to closely identify with their struggles. While Hitler was rising to power, he helped establish the "Confessing Church", which included 6000 pastors who rejected the "Aryan Clause", which allowed for ill treatment of the Jews. Dietrich boldly proclaimed that Jesus Christ was Lord & that being loyal to Hitler was sheer idolatry! He worked diligently for the "Resistance" movement & was eventually caught, thrown into prison, & hung! He remained loyal to Christ while in prison, where he wrote many works, including his classic book, The Cost of Discipleship.

Loyalty sometimes involves laying down one's life!

Sheep that love their Shepherd will follow Him, recognizing His voice when He calls. They have an understanding of what it means to display "Loyalty" to the one that cares for them. 

I'm "STICKING with the SHEPHERD!

EWE know we are HAPPY,HAPPY,HAPPY, to be in the fold!

All is well when the Shepherd is near, cause Ewe know He is LOYAL!

Today is a wonderful day to walk closely by the Good Shepherd. Listen carefully for His voice, as He faithfully leads EWE!
