Independence Day Musings!

"Where liberty dwells, there is my country." Benjamin Franklin

Do Ewe think I look Patriotic enough?
"Independence Day" has been celebrated for 242years to commemorate the birth of freedom, as our "nation" officially declared its "independence" from Great Britain in 1776! John Adams, on July 2nd, penned these words in a letter to his wife. "The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more. " The day was moved to July 4th to correspond with the much publicized date on the Declaration of Independence. I have gathered some quotes & pictures to encourage Ewe on this very special day in the existence of our country.

We Love the "HOT DOGS" on the 4th of July!
"One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, One Nation evermore!"      Oliver Wendell Holmes

I Love the USA, but don't EWE think they overdid it?
We Love what Ewe do for us!

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."  Thomas Paine

Kudos to our military for keeping us Free!
"Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life..."
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal." The Gettysburg Address, 1863                Abraham Lincoln

Freedom demands wisdom from its leaders!

Hold high the Torch! Lady Liberty Rocks!
"Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die."
Dwight D. Eisenhower

Did Ewe know that Fireworks & the 4th of July are perfect together?
Celebrate, Freedom, Celebrate!
"So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of Mississippi.
From every mountainside, let freedom ring."

Rev. Martin Luther King

Freedom includes, "Life, Liberty, & the pursuit of Happiness", for all!
Harriet Tubman risked her life to lead slaves to freedom.
Sheep that follow the "Good Shepherd" experience true freedom from the inside-out! He provides all the security they will ever need.
Ewe choose to follow Him because Ewe Trust Him!

Did Ewe know that Freedom makes us Jump for Joy?
As Ewe celebrate America's 242 years of Freedom, take a moment to thank God for all the sacrifices that were made on our behalf!

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  John 8:32
